I'm in D.C. I guess it's no secret now that I'm here to talk about taking the last 3 months of Condolezza's tenure but if you haven't heard it don't spread it around.
Anyhow, I wandered into a store named "Paper Source" which is part of a chain of some 30 or so stores. Among the paper items the store sells are boxed Christmas cards. Among the stacks of offerings of various kinds of Christmas cards was not one that had any reference to religion or Christ. Unless you count the one that said "Shalom".
So, for the Paper Source's customers, Christ has been completely removed from Christmas. There's something very empty feeling about that for me. I'm as bad as anyone about turning Christmas into a frenzy but to think about assumng Christ has nothing to do with it gives me a sinking feeling.
My first thought is that we'll always have Easter but that cute bunny is making inroads.
