PBS is running a new installment of their "African American Lives" series which investigates geneology of famous or important people. It's a facinating process and well worth watching.
Part of the discussion last night had to do with a Presbyterian mission. In an era in the south where 2 cents was spent on an Afican American child's education for every dollar spent on a white child, the Presbyterian Church established schools in the south for black children. I never knew this and I'm proud of it just as I'm proud of the legacy of mission that we've left around the world.
But that's history. I'm not sure what our children will be proud of.
